Non-religious Charity

November 1, 2011

Good news! I already know the theme of my November post! I thought I’d write about non-religious charity and decided to ask you, my wonderful readers, for any information you might have on non-religious charities you may give to. I already know about Foundation Beyond Belief, but any others please drop me an e-mail to let me know and I’ll include them if I can!

Plan Canada, most local shelters or Women’s Centres, Planned Parenthood…

This is a great idea. I know a lot of religious charities, but now that I don’t want my tithe money supporting anti-abortion lobbying or upholding churches that teach things I believe are harmful, it is great to learn about other charities.

amnesty international is a good one that i have supported regularly, they do good work in human rights around the world, and are definitely entirely secular. i’m in the UK right now and ‘save the children’ is pretty big here, but i don’t think it is so much in north america. ‘free the children’ was big when i was in uni, it is more geared towards children/youth in particular i think, but still totally secular and does good things around the world for kids. i agree with doctors without borders, and also the red cross is good too. that’s all i can think of right now…
