Just one more thing… (More charity!)
(I feel like I should be wearing a trench coat and smoking a cigar…)
I got an e-mail recently from the Foundation Beyond Belief, a wonderful organization that helps pair humanists with non-religious charities, announcing the FBB Light the Night team and asking for bloggers to promote it. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for non-believers to support a worthy cause and make ourselves known/show our charitable side.
Here is the e-mail I got from the FBB:
Hello! I am contacting you today to ask if you would please be able to use your influence as a blogger to write about Foundation Beyond Belief’s Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. With your help, we can make this night one that will go down in history as the largest concentrated humanitarian effort from the freethought movement.
Here is the information we would like you to share if you would be so kind:
This is the link to our informational page about our Light the Night walk. At this point, we would really like people just to join the teams and make them bigger and badder than they already are. However, if your readers should find that they would just like to donate, they can do that here.
It is important to note that we are doing this humanitarian effort in honor of Christopher Hitchens and have this amazing matching challenge going on with the Stiefel Freethought Foundation [Link corrected by TheSecretAtheist, the one in the email was something to do with gmail]. Todd and his family are teaming up with Foundation Beyond Belief in order to help make this the largest godless charity event ever. and have generously offered to match every dollar that our national Light the Night team raises up to $500,000, making our total goal $1,000,000–which will break the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s record for funds raised by a brand new organization in the Light the Night Walk.
Is that all you say? HECK NO. The Stiefel Family Foundation is also offering some absolutely amazing incentives for the top teams, who are going to get reward grants for being so awesome and thinking cancer sucks.
Please help us spread the word about what will become the largest secular charity event in history!
Thanks for reading, have a great day,
Foundation Beyond Belief Intern
